Welcome to our website
Its purpose is to give you insight into Minnkota's history, capabilities, the manufacturers we have long-term relationships with and stories about our projects that we think will be of interest to customers and architects.
Briefly, our core business is to furnish and install panel systems on conventionally designed building projects.
AREA SERVED
Most of our projects are located in the Twin Cities Metro area and the surrounding five states. However, we have furnished material packages for projects throughout the country including Alaska, Washington, Alabama and many other states. We have even furnished a half-million dollar panel package that was for a U. S. Embassy that was built in Chile.
ABOUT US
Minnkota was established for the purpose of providing unique products to the construction industry. To get that result, we are proactive in the market by promoting the products for the manufacturers that we have contracts or solid relationships with, to architects. We then provide design assistance and with innovative and creative suggestions. If our routine products do not meet the design criteria, we will recommend a better solution from another manufacturer. We also provide budget estimates for these products that are "real world" by drawing on our experience, bid and project history.
Most of our revenue is from lump-sum contracts, purchase orders for materials only packages or materials furnished and installed as well as commissions. Our shop drawings are prepared using CAD technology by in-house or out-sourced services that have long histories with us. Our installers are highly experienced, most being Ironworkers, that have had decades of experience with architectural metal panel systems.
HISTORY
Minnkota was founded in 1983 by James Gasner, PE, when the Inryco Panel Line dealership became available for the area. Inryco provided a complete array of panel types including profiled wall and roof panels, pre-insulated panels, honeycomb and porcelain enamel panels. Eventually, Inryco products became unavailable as the parent company, Inland Steel, sought to exit the building products business. In the late eighties, Minnkota began to develop relationships with manufacturers that are now part of the Kingspan Group. Kingspan is the world's largest and most financially stable manufacturer of metal panel products. They have facilities in Canada and Western Europe. We have been doing business with their U. S. subsidiaries, Morin Corp, Kingspan- Benchmark and Kingspan-Aluma-Shield for well over fifteen years, each.
We also have long lasting relationships with P. G. Bell for porcelain enamel panels, Mantech for custom fabrication of panels and accessories, Firestone Una-Clad, Pac-Clad and Architectural Specialty Products. Also, we we work with with Metl-Span pre-insulated wall and roof panels, Litecore Inc., who features a dry-joint composite panel system that is price competitive with inferior caulked systems.
In 2003 we had the distinction of being the first company to furnish and install a SWISSPEARL composite fiber-cement cladding system in the U. S. This was at the University of Minnesota Art-teaching and Research Facility, Minneapolis. Shortly after that, we secured the rights to market and sell SWISSPEARL in our normal trade area. See project descriptions for two projects on following pages. We have many more projects throughout the region.
Because of our involvement with SWISSPEARL, we were asked to handle Parklex composite products in 2012. Parklex is a composite product with a real wood veneer face in varying woods and stains. The product is useable for exteriors with other versions for interior floors and walls.
